THE POLITICAL ORGANIZATION OF BLACK WOMEN: Performance of the Collective "Negra Sim - Movement of Black Women of Santo André"
The singular condition of oppression faced by black women, resulting from the intersection between race, gender, class and sexuality discrimination, motivated the creation of spaces for empowerment, in which issues inherent to these women could be discussed, who were and remain, many times , historically made invisible in political spaces. Thus, this research aims to discuss the assumptions of social cooperation of the “Coletivo Negra Sim – Movimento de Mulheres Negras de Santo André”, considering the confrontation with racism and gender inequality, as well as its political organization and its influence as a space of collective empowerment. The Collective has been acting collaboratively since the 1990s, establishing partnerships with other institutions in the municipality and integrating important bodies, such as COMUN (Municipal Coordination of Black Entities), CONEN (National Coordination of Black Entities) and the State Forum of Black Women. The research will carry out a bibliographical survey on social movements and black feminism, in addition to organizing interviews with the members of the collective. In order to carry out the research in question, in addition to a specific analysis of the investigated social movement, the background and historical milestones of black women's struggles in Brazil are outlined, highlighting their contributions to social, cultural and political development. Also noteworthy is the construction of contemporary activism by black Brazilian women, addressing their struggles, achievements and challenges throughout history, as well as their motivations for autonomous political action.
