Contradictions of the Brazilian economic development cycle between 1999 and 2020: a structural analysis of labor reserves
This research project aims to understand the weaknesses of Brazilian economic development in the last 20 years, focusing on the contradictions of its structural model. The main question that will guide the project concerns the relationship between production and reproduction of the workforce in the current stage of monopoly-finance capitalism. The analytical focus is on the evolution of labor reserves in a period convulsed by heightened social, racial and gender contradictions and political polarization. It is intended to qualify the structural and conjunctural characteristics of this period of expansion of the Brazilian economy from readings based on historical materialism, especially those that shed light on the structural permanence of “marginal masses” in Latin America. Quantitative research methods will be used for this purpose on the evolution of the world of work, with cuts for race and gender, with data provided by IBGE, OIT and other institutions.
