SUMMARY:
This report is configured with the presentation of the research project with two preliminary chapters of the thesis “The Bolivian path: a transition project. From the Water War to the Lithium Coup”. The objective of the research is to develop, from an interweaving between structure, conjuncture, and history, an interpretation of the recent period of the long process of decolonization in Bolivia. The seeking is to theoretically build the concept of transition to a new society from the so-called proceso de cambio (process of change), whose horizon is the idea of communitarian socialism, originating from the perspective of the original peoples called vivir bien (living well). In this sense, the chapters presented address the discussion around the configuration of these Movement toward Socialism' project, which came to the government after the victory of Evo Morales in 2005, after a long period of social tensions that erupted in the “Water War” in 2000. The emancipatory advances that lead to the idea that it is a transition project are pointed out, and the limits and tensions that were presented in the historical process, culminating in the 2019 Coup d'Etat, are also discussed.
