SUMMARY:

The environmental theme has been predominant in the field of exact and biological sciences, because it starts from the presupposition of the biogeochemical understanding of the environmental processes that occur on the planet. This biogeochemical conception brings at its core issues such as the dynamics that influence the increase in temperature, or the acidification of the oceans with the change in pH. This does not mean that the social sciences do not debate global environmental changes, but that there is still a long way to go, both in theoretical and empirical matters. In this sense, the environmental debate within the social sciences is still, in a way, controversial, because there is a lack of a certain dialogue between the disciplines, in order to build an interdisciplinary posture of understanding and response. A construction or adaptation of approaches is necessary. Therefore, this work brings the environmental issue from the political-economic systemic structure in which societies are inserted, in order to understand how this structure influences and drives processes of environmental changes and their consequences, such as environmental migrations.
