THE PROBLEM OF TRANSITION: ECONOMIC PLANNING AND SOCIALIST TRANSITION IN CHINA DURING THE YEARS OF THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION (1966-1976)
The object of this work is economic planning and the socialist transition in China during the years of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. We aim to understand, on the one hand, the Marxist theoretical discussion that develops around the concept of socialism and on economic planning as the basis of the political economy of socialism, and on the other hand, how such a theoretical clash took place in the cultural revolution. In this way, we will investigate what contributions to this theoretical debate were possible in this historical process. We will, therefore, emphasize the constitution of organizational forms that are supposedly innovative from the point of view of the political economy of socialism, within the process of the cultural revolution, in order to analyze what was meant by socialism and whether it is possible to make a synthesis of this process. inserting such historical experience into a more general discussion of socialist transition.
