RESUMO:

The Federal University of ABC - UFABC is a federal public education institution, aiming to provide higher education, develop research in different areas of knowledge and promote university extension. It is an institution founded to explore new possibilities, both in research and in education, with an innovative pedagogical project, and its proposal, for years, was developed in the national and even international scientific scope. Nationally, by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, which debated it widely and supported it. At the international level, it is worth noting that the proposal is also inspired by the “Bologna Declaration” [1], a kind of pact by which countries join efforts in the search for the reformulation of their teaching proposals.

In this line, it is evident from the pedagogical project of the Postgraduate Program in World Political Economy, that its creation “reflects the maturation of a process of institutionalization of a new pedagogical project guided by academic excellence with interdisciplinarity and social inclusion. [...] It is worth reiterating that UFABC is a structurally interdisciplinary higher education institution".

At this point, the present work seeks to carry out, initially, a study of recent changes and flows of people related to global migratory movements, focusing on socioeconomic changes, including regarding the formulation of norms as a form of public policy, focusing on issue of migration in Brazil, drawing a parallel with the current migration agenda in the European Union. It also seeks to make use of Political Economy in order to understand the problem of development at the local level in the face of recent changes in the global economic and social scenario.

The main factor from which the development of the research project started was the importance of the subject globally, since the issue of migration is related to the basic living conditions of these people, nationals of another reality but living under the society of another, in addition to presenting reflections in the economic, social and legal spheres, given that migration is an issue under debate today all over the world.

Thus, as it is an interdisciplinary research project, which involves the use of concepts and the analysis of factors related to some disciplines and areas of knowledge, the field of interest is mixed, but directed mainly in the area of Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policies and Human Rights.
