"Industrialization as a strategy for overcoming underdevelopment: Lessons from Indonesia"
This work aims to analyze the economic trajectory of Indonesia, including the policies to overcome underdevelopment put into practice from the second half of the 20th century, mainly during the government of Hadji Mohamed Suharto (1967-1998), and especially in respect to state policies aimed at promoting industrialization. Therefore, an assessment is conducted based on the hypothesis of industrialization as a decisive factor for expanding the growth capacities of developing nations, given the significant advances made by Indonesia together with the considerable participation of industry in the composition of the country's national product. As a means to advance in this objective, we will use as a starting point the theoretical assumptions contained in the currents of thought of classical developmentalism, Keynesianism and especially Latin American structuralism.
