RESUMO:

Cinema and its possible relation to the teaching of Philosophy is the overarching theme of this research. Our interest is focused on knowing which possibilities the cinema has when it comes to Philosophy’s teaching. The appearance of this problem it is due to the conditions that we face in our teaching practice, especially the limited number of hours provided for Philosophy, which imposes several limitations on the development of our work. In addition, it also appears to us because of the understanding that video is something that occupies considerable space in people's lives today. It seems to be enough to take a brief look around to realize that. This widespread presence that video has in contemporary society is not reflected, however, in an equal proportion in the school environment. It is necessary to think better about the possible uses that such a resource could have in the educational sphere, mainly to do not take the easy and risky way of adopting any “modernity” in the pedagogical field, just for the taste of novelty. This is why, specifically under the perspective of Philosophy´s teaching, this research was carried out. In order to achieve that, we are going through four different stages – enabling the audiovisual for Education, outlining a conception of Philosophy that derives into a teaching practice, investigating the possibility that cinema is able for teaching Philosophy and, finally, analyzing the way that films are welcome in textbooks, that are taken here as practical elements of the philosophical teaching – we sought to elucidate this central question established ab initio: does cinema allow us to think philosophically? We can say that the answer found is oriented in an affirmative way: as long as we conceive Philosophy as an experience of thought that produces [new] meanings for reality, then it is possible to affirm that the film, understood as a concept-image, that gives to a “logopathic” model of rationality something to think about, it becomes a tool for philosophical teaching.
