Titanium alloys are of great interest for biomedical applications due to their excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. Among them, the Ti-6Al-4V alloy is the most used. However, studies reveal that the elements aluminum and vanadium, present in the composition of this alloy, are harmful to the human body. In addition, the Young's modulus of this alloy is significantly higher than that of bone, making it difficult to optimize the compatibility between bone and implant, for example. Given this scenario and the increase in life expectancy worldwide, the search for alternatives to Ti-6Al-4V alloy has become relevant and necessary. Metastable Ti-β alloys have been reported as a promising alternative, due to their excellent mechanical properties, lower elastic modulus than Ti-6Al-4V alloy and therefore closer to bone, favoring osseointegration and absence of harmful elements. In this work, we investigated the influence of ECAP processing and microstructure on the mechanical properties of a metastable Ti- β alloy TNTZ, Ti-29Nb-13Ta-4,6Zr, whose composition was chosen through a stability map, based on the model of molecular orbital and determined by the vibrational cluster method and Hartree-Fock-Slater approximation.
