RESUMO:
Novel hybrid materials containing 1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimides (NDI) as an organic ligand and zinc as a metal cation were synthesized. For this purpose, N,N’-(2-phosphonoethyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide (PNDI) was reacted with zinc nitrate. The two compounds were first dissolved separately and then the solutions were mixed, resulting in precipitation of the solid materials, which were named PNDI/Zn. Two different solvents were employed: water and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The PNDI/Zn samples were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and UV-visible spectroscopies and x-ray diffraction (DRX), as well as nitrogen adsorption isotherms. According to DRX, the PNDI/Zn samples presented lamellar structure, typical of metal phosphonates. The sample precipitated from water was better structured than the sample from DMF. The PNDI/Zn materials showed porosity similar to other zinc phosphonates, with nitrogen adsorption reaching almost 90 cm3/g.
