RESUMO:

Hydrogels have similarities with natural tissues, which make these materials good candidates for creating scaffolds for tissue engineering. It is known that the maintenance of bone mass is regulated by biochemical and mechanical stimuli. One way to promote mechanotransduction in osteoprogenitor cells is through scaffolds responsible for generating cyclical mechanical efforts, resulting in tensions with preferential directions in the cells. These scaffolds can be produced by 4D printing, which combines the 3D printing technique with the creation of structures that can change shape when subjected to stimulation, in a reversible way. The main objective of this project is to produce a smart hydrogel scaffold by 4D printing that responds to a temperature variation, to promote the growth of osteoprogenous cells. For this, an intelligent hydrogel composed of isopropylacrylamide monomers is photopolymerized by UV exposure in the presence of a nanocrystalline alginate and cellulose (CNC) network that acts as a physical crosslinker. During the 3D printing, the nanocrystals are submitted to shear stress that enables to create in the scaffold and allows the manufacture of complex fine structures. Four hydrogels containing 0; 5; 10 and 15 m% of CNC are studied. The rheological behavior of the gels is studied to verify the extrudability and stability of the gel. Photopolymerization is verified by spectroscopy in the infrared region and by the stability of hydrogels in water.
