RESUMO:

Since the 1980s, the "Multilateral Development Banks", through the structural adjustment agenda, finance urban public policies in Latin America (LA), imposing intervention models and a new urban agenda, as well as promoting urban patterns based on neoliberal reforms , fiscal adjustments, and corporate management models of cities. As of 2010, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) implements the Sustainable Emerging Cities Initiative (ICES) program. The goal is to investigate the role of the Multilateral Development Banks in urban development policies in Brazil to explore the changes in structural adjustment policies and to analyze how the issue of urban sustainability is incorporated by these agencies, using as a case study the ICES
