SUMMARY:

The conflicts associated with local environmental governance systems will be the subject of the thesis, while the specific object of the thesis will be the conflicts associated with local environmental governance in the municipality of Suzano.  The general objective of the research is to contribute to the understanding of the scope, limitations, obstacles, conflicts and possibilities inherent in local environmental governance structures and instruments, shedding light on the real capacity of these management elements in the face of environmental conflicts that accumulate in complex and diverse territories such as Suzano, located in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. It is well known that local entities have limited power, but what is their limit of action? Thus, the objective is also to cooperate and assist in the construction of strategies aimed at a better and more comprehensive performance of these elements, with special attention to the actors who participate in the dynamics of local environmental governance.
