SUMMARY:

In the mid-1980s, in the face of the damage caused by the economic crisis and the drastic process of economic and productive restructuring, there was a growing reflection on new development models, with less rigid and centralised characteristics, while prioritising endogenous processes in the territories. In this sense, local development, as a strategy for territorial development that makes compatible the heterogeneities of economic and social dynamics in a smaller-scale territorial cut-out, has emerged as a possible strategy. In order to deepen the debate around local territorial development, this research takes the experience of the Paulínia Film Industry Complex as an object of study and seeks to investigate the Centre as an initiative of economic and productive development and diversification leveraged by the municipality.
