RESUMO:

Intervention programs in cultural heritage began to be adopted in the Brazilian context from the 1970s onwards and it was only after the democratization process, when citizenship was raised to the top of the political agenda, that preservation programs began to provide for the institution of mechanisms for social participation. The present work aims to understand how the Growth Acceleration Program - Historic Cities (PAC-CH), as an integral part of the Brazilian cultural heritage preservation policy, incorporated the premises of social participation in the management of interventions in cultural value and contributed to its strengthening and consolidation in Vila de Paranapiacaba, during the implementation period from 2013 to 2020. To this end, the research will be supported by the case study conducted by document analysis and systematic review of the literature on social participation in management of historic sites and intervention policies, as well as press releases and interviews.
