RESUMO:

he work seeks to understand the way in which the law operates in the social environment, composing zones of ambiguity and informal circuits that involve migrant housing, based on two “ocupações” – squats - under threat of eviction, constituted by migrants and Brazilians, located in the city of São Paulo in the neighborhoods of Vila Andrade and Brás. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, from the indefinite suspension of the different evictions judicial processes involving the squats, dynamics were formed that link with the constant perspective of eviction, a temporality imposed by the judicial process that is characterized by indeterminacy, places that consolidate and organize themselves on the threshold between permanence and extinction. The squats under threat of eviction and the dynamics that form within them allow us to analyze the informal circuits of migrant housing and the role of law in its constitution, taking the city as an analysis plan for the study of migration. The influence of the debates elaborated on the question of scale, indicating the urban scale as a starting point, makes it possible to take the studies on migration from another approach, pointing to multiple integration processes and multiple identities assumed by migrants. The city puts internally and externally displaced people in perspective, dispossessed in a broader global context. They are characters from the city who are confused in their daily lives, sharing processes of resistance and dispossession. Thus, the study seeks to make visible the forms of resistance that were produced, the trajectories of migrants and the dynamics that were established, pointing to the multiple institutions and actors that orbit these squats and the way that this organization affects the unfolding of legal proceedings.
