RESUMO:

The use of copolymers of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO) has increased in the cosmetic area due to cost, low toxicity, water solubility, ease of handling and mainly application performance. Such EO / PO copolymers in water may be arranged in micelles or liquid-crystalline structures which promote good solubilization of nonpolar compounds and increase in the viscosity of the solution. They can be used in the formation of nanoemulsions for cosmetic use with differentiated rheological and sensory properties, especially since the nanoemulsions have low viscosity due to the smaller size of the dispersed phase. Understanding the rheological behavior of these formulations and correlating them with the sensory attributes is still a challenge, as is the choice of the different EO/PO block copolymers available for various applications.
