RESUMO:

In this work we deal with the brachistochrone and tautochrone classical problems, which in some way represent the origins of modern mathematical thought. It is divided into two parts: the first one, dedicated to the brachistochrone problem, starts with some historical notes, followed by the statement of the problem itself and two solutions -- one due to Johann Bernoulli, the other one based on geometric elementary arguments; the second part, dedicated to the tautochrone problem, similarly starts from historical notes, then presents the problem and a solution due to Jakob Bernoulli.
