SUMMARY:

In this qualification exam, we will show the advances related to our master's research project. We will deal with the problem of the interaction of a trapped ion with the electromagnetic field in a cavity. The focus will be on exploring regimes in which the ion-field interaction is strong enough to invalidate the approaches usually adopted. The reason for this study is to seek new phenomena and faster dynamics. Such an investigation finds its motivation in recent experiments with quantum networks and in the fact that faster dynamics have the potential to be less affected by relaxation mechanisms that tend to destroy quantum effects.
