ÁREA: Filosofia
RESUMO:

Axel Honneth grounds his philosophy in the debates of the Critical Theory. That is, our author develops his philosophical inquiries from the perspectives expressed by Max Horkheimer’s and Theodor Adorno’s first generation to the Jürgen Habermas’ “linguistic turn”. In this sense, our author intends to develop a critique of the contemporary times, which is the same as a contribution to an emancipatory way by the analysis of the social contradictions, that is, the so-called Honneth’s “immanent critique” of the struggle of recognition. It is a tensioned movement inside Honneth’s philosophy assuming immanent and transcendental perspectives. A relation originated from the German Idealism, especially the normative view in Hegel, the young. Here, experiences of disrespect appear as a central form of the struggles of recognition. Beyond the possible idealism resulting from this ethical view in Hegel, Honneth mobilizes empirical questions on the intersubjective relations. However, Honneth mobilizes empirical questions on the intersubjective relations, avoiding the possible idealism resulting from this ethical view in Hegel. Moreover, our author intends to avoid a sociological deficit presented in Adorno and Horkheimer’s philosophy of history, in which reason becomes a sign of pure domination. Differently, Honneth develops a critique of the social struggles, as a phenomenon of recognition. From this perspective, Honneth is close to the Habermasian communicative action. However, Honneth constitutes a normative grammar of social struggles based on the intersubjective processes of the social interaction, as a normative-empirical sphere of social recognition. In this sense, we intend to present this Honnethian perspective as a critical theory based on the tensioned relation between empirical and transcendental grounds. Something that becomes central to our inquiry: what is the meaning of an Honnethian empirical-transcendental Critical Theory? A question that follows some problems. If it is true that our author escapes from sociological deficits, could he also escape from some other ones, such as the political deficits for recognizing social struggles external to the claims of the established society, such as conflicts between different cultures? Is there a limit if we understand the empirical claims for self-realization as a normative horizon?
