RESUMO:

This research intends to carry out a study of O Segundo Sexo, by Simone de Beauvoir, comparing it with the cinematographic work of Pedro Almodóvar, more specifically with the film Volver, from the notion of concept-image by Julio Cabrera. On the one hand, we have Simone de Beauvoir, who in O Segundo Sexo presents a diagnosis about the situation of the woman and the causes of her difficulty in asserting herself as a subject. On the other hand, filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, who in several films portrays strong women who occupy the position of subjects, sometimes assuming behaviors associated with masculinity. We will initially make an analysis of The Second Sex, with the objective of reconstructing what Beauvoir understands as the woman's situation (her outrification, the myths that persecute her), in addition to dwelling on the concept of existential freedom from the perspective of the French philosopher . For this, we aim to analyze the feature film Volver, by Almodóvar, showing how it makes explicit and brings to light the issue of self-affirmation of the subjectivity of women, a theme dear to Beauvoir. With that, we will try to investigate the possibility of the woman finding the paths of transcendence, evoked by Beauvoir, based on the characters of Almodóvar. Through this confrontation, between philosophy and cinema, we will then seek to analyze the desired female emancipation, which seems to take shape in the characters created by Almodóvar. Therefore, the relationship with cinema would raise questions and elements present in Beauvoir's thought.
