Aiming to investigate the development of the concepts of method and metaphysics in the pre-critical period of the Kantian philosophy, this qualification text begins its course with the analysis and argumentation around the theoretical heritage that this philosophy finds in the context of German enlightenment, as well as in the influence that different methodological postures had on Kant's first published works. In the first chapter we deal with the writing Thoughts on the true estimation of living forces (1747) and the clues that it provides for an understanding of young Kant's way of proceeding. In the second chapter, we seek to trace the mutations and continuities that Kant presents regarding these notions in the 1750s, especially in the text Universal Natural History (1755). The texts New Elucidation (1755) and Physical Monadology (1756) will also be dealt with in the second chapter, but their sections are still in the writing process. We thus seek to extract from the Kantian text the development that interests us most, that is, the way in which the methodology of philosophy and, more specifically, of metaphysics, progressively assumes central importance in the questions that this science has raised for Kant, reaching, according to our appreciation, the possibility of dealing with the fundamental topics that were intended to be investigated in it. In order to continue along this path of research, which we consider central to the understanding of the developments in Kant's philosophy as a whole, we privilege the bibliography produced in Brazil, while contemplating the main approaches we find in other languages, with authors who help us to direct our own investigation. This research, therefore, although oriented towards certain aspects of Kant's work (necessarily leading us to neglect others), intends to provide an interpretative perspective on the development of the philosophical methodology that was necessary in order to consider the possibility of a critical philosophy.
