RESUMO:

In the present work, the influence of Friedrich W. Nietzsche's philosophy on the work of Carl Gustav Jung, Über die Psychologie des Unbewussten (Psychology of the Unconscious), of 1912 will be presented and discussed. The purpose of the dissertation is to explain how the concept “Wille zur Macht ”, the will to power present in Nietzschean thought, can be identified and analyzed within the Jungian work. Thus, the main idea is to explain how Jung benefits from F. Nietzsche's “Wille zur Macht” concept to solve the problem of unilateralism observed in Sigmund Freud's theory of neurosis. Analyzing first how Jung identifies gaps in the Freudian theory of repression, it becomes evident the understanding for another interpretation about neurosis, and this possibility about another point of view, as stated in his work, occurs through the appropriation that Alfred Adler makes of Nietzsche's concept “Wille zur Macht '. While Freud defends the sexual drive as a driving force, Adler, in turn, uses the Nietzschean will to power for his theory of the power of the self exerted in neurotic manifestation. Thus, juxtaposing the analysis of the two theories, Jung will present his synthesis on the Psychological Types, showing a new formulation regarding the understanding of neurosis. This synthesis in Psychology of the Unconscious is possible, as the hypothesis of this work aims, finally, due to the influence and impact of the term “Wille zur Macht” of Nietzsche's philosophy, discussed through Adlerian psychology.
