RESUMO:

FPSO platforms are floating vessels with facilities designed for the extraction and processing of natural gas and oil extracted from deepwater regions. The self-sufficiency of this production unit is achieved by the cogeneration plant, equipped with 3 main turbogenerators and a reserve, being able to deliver a total of 100 MW of electrical power.

This work has as its object of study the cogeneration plant of an FPSO, responsible for the electrical supply of the compression and pumping systems, among others, and for the thermal supply, supplying the oil separation processes with hot water. Throughout the life of an oil field, the thermal and electrical demands vary depending on the composition of the extracted oil and may contain different proportions of oil, gas, water, and carbon dioxide. As a result, the operating conditions of the turbogenerators are also changed, in addition to other factors such as the atmospheric conditions of the operating site.

With the production curves and thermal and electrical demands and the study of state-of-the-art technologies, a thermodynamic analysis of the aforementioned cogeneration plant and alternative energy recovery configurations can the with a focus on reducing emissions. It is proposed to analyze the functioning of the system with the cooling of the intake air of the turbogenerators by compression refrigeration system (SRC) and implantation of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) to recover residual heat from the exhaust gases of the turbogenerators.

The analysis of the base case serves as a reference for comparing the performance of the proposed configurations. With the intake air cooling of the turbogenerators, it is expected that the turbogenerators are close to the nominal operating conditions and are subject to relatively low electrical consumption. With the presence of the residual heat recovery cycle using organic fluid, it is expected that the auxiliary electrical generation will be substantially high to reduce operational loads and increase the availability of the turbogenerators.
