RESUMO:

The equipment responsible for transfer petroleum from deep sea to platform is known by riser. The completely understand of all the environments variables about the riser´s operation is extremely important for optimized design and to ensure the safety of the petroleum exploration process. The failure of a riser can be catastrophic on the economic and environmental way and must be avoided at any costs.

This master thesis main goal is develop a computational tool to non linear dynamic and static analysis of a catenary risers steel liable to high displacements coupled to a non linear model of marine soil. The tool was developed and implemented in MATLAB oriented object.

The co-rotational formulation is used to describe the beam elements in the plane. The results of the non-linear equations are obtained incrementally using the Newton-Raphson method.

The dynamic response of the model is obtained using the HHT implicit direct integration method.

The marine soil model used in this thesis is called by P-Y. This model of soil is a non linear and have distinct comportment during the penetration in soil and load, unload and reload steps.

The results obtained using the computational tool developed were satisfactorily compared with literature results, showing that it can simulate the structure-soil interaction where both the structure and the soil have a nonlinear behavior.
