SUMMARY:

In augmented reality (AR) applications, the real world can interact with the virtual through image processing and overlay. This concept has been increasingly used with regard to Industry 4.0 applications such as mobile robotics in conjunction with digital twins. Exploiting this technique that is constantly growing, a system is proposed in this article including real time visualization of the odometry of a mobile autonomous robot, using AR. The central idea is to demonstrate the use of AR in conjunction with mobile robotics, allowing the visualization of data, previously hidden, to the user. To accomplish the proposed challenge, RA software development kits such as Unity and Vuforia were explored to create a modular application that allows the use with a differential robot using UDP communication protocols, with both the robot chassis and the circuit and the app beeing all designed and developed from scratch by the team. At the end, the initial results of this project were presented, as well as future implementations.
