Contingency Analysis on Power Systems with Presence of Renewable Sources Considering the Use of Battery Energy Storage Systems
There is a worldwide tendency for renewable energy sources to reach ever higher levels of penetration in the Electric Power System (SEP), increasing the corresponding share in the electric power generation matrix. Among the fastest growing sources of energy are wind and photovoltaic solar. However, with new sources of energy inserted in various points of the system, it must be considered that there may be a new behavior regarding disturbances, contingencies and other factors, which may compromise the protection and operation of the system. In fact, as the level of penetration of renewable sources increases, further efforts from a technical and operational point of view are needed to keep energy quality indices within acceptable levels. Given the above, the present work proposes a study using computer modeling and simulation using Matlab® & Simulink® software considering the wind and solar sources connected to the transmission system and the use of energy storage in order to contribute to the research line. of this area.
