FLOWER POLLINATION ALGORITHM APPLIED TO THE ELECTRICAL POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM RECONFIGURATION PROBLEM
Network reconfiguration is one of the main techniques used to improve the operation of distribution networks. The main objective of the electrical power distribution system reconfiguration problem is to find a radial network topology with minimal technical losses. This text presents an approach to solve the reconfiguration problem using the flower pollination algorithm, which is a meta-heuristic inspired by the process of pollination of plants. The proposed approach is applied in test systems with 5, 16, 33, and 70 nodes. The results obtained are compared with other available in the literature, proving the effectiveness of the proposed approach in solving the reconfiguration problem. Tests verify that the presented technique performs well for solving the reconfiguration problem for small and medium-sized distribution systems.
