SUMMARY:

Video games, which operate through player participation in interaction and narrative flows, have become an increasingly adopted form of entertainment. Its audience has diversified in recent decades, this being one of the factors that influenced the technological improvement and sophistication of its aesthetic resources, being considered by many as a creativity tool with an added value that is similar to other forms of human expressiveness. mana, as well as increasingly attracting the attention of different segments of academics from the most varied fields of knowledge, giving rise to what is conventionally called game studies. Since the object of this research is the relationship between people and the ideological elements present in video games, this work intends to focus on the contemporary nature of games based on the constitution and maturation of the culture of this community, which has been closely observed by researchers for a few decades now. With the aim of understanding the ideological orientations present in video games based on the perception of their audience, this study presents a questionnaire designed with the purpose of demonstrating with methodological certainty how these orientations occur, comparing the answers of the methodology adopted with the theoretical contribution presented during the development of the research, considering data of a sociocultural nature and variables about games and related consumption habits. The relevance of this study finds strong support in the massive presence of video games and their elements in contemporary culture, making it desirable that the topic be rethought beyond more immediate aspects, such as gamification in education or the commercial appeal of the term gamer, elevating this object of study to broader instances of understanding the social relations that surround it.
