THE JONGO IN THE QUILOMBO SAMBAQUI: BODY, MEMORY AND TERRITORY IN BRASILÂNDIA
Quilombo Sambaqui is located in the north region of São Paulo, in Jardim Guarani, district of Brasilândia. The group, founded and led by Rosângela Macedo, is made up of women who study and promote Jongo. I reflect in this dissertation how jongo can be a resistance strategy, considering that through jongo we can articulate many data about the memory of black Brazilian people, their forms of political, cultural and religious action. From Quilombo Sambaqui, I report the performance of popular cultures in the outskirts of São Paulo, tracing a parallel of resistance and collective memories that constitute the universe of Quilombo's categories of thought. Through local relationships I seek to understand who I am, and our history. I also analyze possibilities for curing suffering, through spaces for the elaboration of thoughts for black and peripheral women, such as the Quilombo Sambaqui space.
