RESUMO:
The present work observes the insertion of marginal-peripheral literature in the formation of readers in the public school, specifically in the Final Years of Elementary School (formerly Elementary School II) of the municipal network of São Paulo. It seeks to understand how this literature has reached this space for the formation of readers and the importance of its presence in this context. The research starts from the study of the history of marginal-peripheral literature to understand what the movement is about and its specificities. Then, a survey is made of how this literature is inserted in the school, considered one of the main literacy agencies in society. To this end, experience reports are presented, in addition to semi-structured interviews, a questionnaire with teachers and analyzes of curricular guidelines and teaching material from the municipal network, that is, data that explain the ways in which marginal-peripheral literature has been part of the content. school. In order to understand the relevance of the presence of this literature at school, the theoretical framework of the New Literacy Studies is activated, whose references not only consider the pedagogical and literary dimensions, but also the social dimension of literacies. Thus, issues of power involved in the insertion of marginal-peripheral literature in the list of curricular contents are observed, as a phenomenon not only educational or literary, but also social. At school, for a long time, an approach to literacy based on the hegemonic culture prevailed; it is expected that this study can contribute to the expansion of this approach, considering the context involved in literacies practices and legitimizing those that are not canonical.
