RESUMO:

This paper investigates the role of girls who have been through the socio-educational system in São Paulo for drug trafficking from a work perspective. The main objective of the research is to analyze the relationships and perceptions of young people who are serving a socio-educational sentence of internment at Liberty Deprivation units from the Foundation Casa de São Paulo regarding working in the illicit drug trade. The problematization of this research consists in investigating how the conformity in resistance and subjection occurs in adolescents who worked at drug commercialization points in São Paulo and which resulted in an internment sentence for an offense equivalent to trafficking. To articulate different categories and knowledge areas, the research focuses its theoretical basis on studies that discussed how gender structures punishment in the socio-educational system, criminal dynamics of drug trafficking in São Paulo, as well as the measures for control and resistance inside female internment units. Thus, sixteen interviews were conducted, ten with adolescents deprived of freedom and six with girls who served internment sentences and are now free. Therefore, the study made it possible to verify that the division of tasks in drug trafficking assigns secondary and domestic functions to women and that the accumulation of tasks stands out both at the substances’ sale points and in their private lives. It was concluded that trafficking is defined as a form of resistance found by young people to face the context of deprivation experienced by them during childhood. While it allows relations of gains and autonomy, the sexual division of tasks enables subordination to commands and greater exposure to incriminating processes. It was also observed that the intense contact with workers at drug trade points and members of the PCC, the recurrent police intervention and an internment sentence, contribute to the process of criminal subordination. However, the delegation of secondary functions makes young people not to perceive themselves as a subject in this process. Finally, this work makes it possible to reflect on the effects of the subjects produced by internment, present even after the young people leave the units, transforming personal discoveries into labels and stigmas for punishment.
