In this work, we intend to situate the creation and performance of DENARC - State Department for the Prevention and Suppression of Narcotraffic, a department specialized in the civil police of São Paulo created to act specifically in the repression of drugs. Analyzing specifically, what role does DENARC play in the policy of drug repression produced within the scope of the State of São Paulo. Elaborating a genealogy of this police unit through a historical analysis of the institutional, social and political elements, as well as the speeches, problems and justifications that emerged in the decision of the Public Power to create DENARC.
