RESUMO:
This work focuses on the relationship between migration and gender. This is to highlight the impact of migration on gender relations in Haitian families in Utinga (São Paulo). Gender studies have raised awareness about women in migration by giving them a more equitable position. These studies shed light on the private, the intimate. They legitimize the theory of history centered on intimacy, feelings, personal identity, the private, the relationship, the body, etc. Aspects neglected in the study of male migration, although they have been the focus of these studies from the beginning. This leads us to question the place of Haitian men and Haitian women in migration in the light of private and related relationships. A qualitative approach was prioritized to conduct this research, drawing on intersectionist feminist theories that allow for the inclusion of other elements such as ethnicity, nationality, social class ... and new migration studies encompassing gender. To gain an understanding of the migration-gender theme we used the triangulation method to obtain data from several given research techniques including ethnography which allows observation and interviews which allow research subjects to give their point of view. This study allows us to better understand the migration conditions that Haitian women live and experience. How migrations contribute to the production of gender division and hierarchy and how gender influences migration processes.
