RESUMO:
Companies in the globalized world seeks to internationalize in order to expand their possibilities of financial return, however risks can emerge in different scenarios where they are inserted. One of these risks is the political, arising from a particular political action that causes losses in economic results. Several econometric studies have verified that Chinese transnational companies invest more in countries considered politically risky, even when controlling the effect of the abundance of natural resources, which goes against both the theoretical and the empirical literature on the subject. Thereby, this research proposes to verify through calculations criteria’s established in main political risk agencies, such as: economic, political, geopolitical and / or security, the environment of the Brazilian oil sector between the years 2009 to 2016. The work then, intends to analyze whether, during the internationalization process of Chinese oil companies in Brazilian territory, the use of the political risk methodology. In the end, it will seek to verify how Chinese companies work with this concept when making their investments and whether or not it may affect their investments in the sector when the risk is considered high.
