Racemization of 1-phenylethanol by Niobium Salts. Application in Dynamic Chemo-Enzyme Kinetic Resolution and Total Synthesis of Safinamide Applying Principles of Green Chemistry
Since the origin of Green Chemistry, a concern about environmental issues has grown. Aiming at more sustainable strategies and with better safety conditions, the industry aims the development of more environmentally friendly technologies and methodologies in its products and processes. In this context, the most sustainable synthesis of biologically active chiral molecules is still a major challenge. In this work, two distinct themes are presented, where both apply the concept of green chemistry for the preparation of chiral molecules of great importance. The first work entitled “Racemization of 1-phenylethanol by niobium salts. Application in dynamic chemo-enzymatic kinetic resolution ”makes use of the biocatalysis process. The second work is entitled “Total synthesis of safinamide applying principles of green chemistry”. The different approaches of this work are due to the waiting time in the delivery of reagents for the second project, which led us to develop the first work in parallel.
