SUMMARY:

The user experience, or User Experience (UX) (commonly called UX, in English), in
distance education (EaD) plays a prominent role in online education. In addition to
usability, satisfaction, emotion and motivation of students, the factors that need to be
considered are that we can directly impact the learning and the evasion of courses. As in
other systems, the user experience is also important. However, in the case of the virtual
learning environment (VLE), it may involve a more important question than the learner
and the experience that will impact the student’s learning and motivation. Additionally,
exploring student experience in environments such as VLE can determine the format
of courses in the disciplines that should be made VLEilable to students. However, the
literature reveals a gap in the application of methods to evaluate the user experience in
Virtual Learning Environments. This study had as its objective fill this gap, seeking to
understand the relationship between the user experience and the learning success in EaD.
To achieve this purpose, this project investigates methods and techniques used to evaluate
the user experience in VLE and, based on this knowledge, provides tools that can improve
this process. The research focuses on the creation of a questionnaire specifically intended
for the evaluation of UX in VLE, together with the possibility of conducting case studies
to test solutions, such as the creation of a plugin for Moodle.
