RESUMO:

Digital educational games are those that can be treated as a teaching resource on building knowledge because they can combine elements such as engagement and motivation with fun in favour of the teaching-learning process. Game production is a complex task considering that involves a multidisciplinary team, such as programming, design, pedagogical and management. Given that education is a universal right, those games need to attend everyone. They need to be projected to include people with disabilities, without distinction. One way to pursue that objective is to aggregate to the production process the concept of Universal Design, which aims that everyone can learn with the same resource, removing all the impeditive barriers. Game accessibility guidelines set standards and recommendations which intends to help managers and developers on the accessibility conception or evaluation. However, those guidelines have not been enough to guide universally inclusive games production. In this context, this work aims to build, present and validate an accessibility set of criteria and a metric that can be used on the accessible educational games production and evaluation process towards people with and without disabilities following the approach of Universal Design. For that, a literature mapping review was conducted about accessibility recommendation proposed in papers that presents accessibility requirements or criteria that help to create accessible educational games for people with particular impairments or that follows the Universal Design principles. Following that, a preliminary checklist with the criteria that was found in scientific-academic literature was elaborated, which was categorized by the Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics (MDA) framework. New criteria, coming from an ad hoc review and accessibility guidelines, must be incorporated into the preliminary set to make it more embracing. It is expected to validate and functionality of the checklist viability with specialists in the field of game development, accessibility, special and accessible education, beyond people with disabilities. At the same time, it is intended to create and validate, with specialists, an accessibility quali-quantitative metric based on the proposed set, which can measure the accessibility degree for each impairment and the level of universal inclusion. As a proposal evaluation, it is planned to apply, evaluate and improve the checklist in two different scenarios: (i) in a mission of an educational accessible game that attend people with visual, intellectual and hearing disabilities; and (ii) on the educational accessible game production process, that is accessible to people with visual, intellectual, hearing disabilities and people with autism. At the conclusion of the work, it is desired to obtain a validated set of criteria and an accessibility metric that help on the educational accessible game production process, by precepts of Universal Design.
