SUMMARY:
The rapid evolution of modern society has driven profound transformations in industry, culminating in the
Industry 4.0 era. Under this paradigm, the interconnection of production elements, automation and the use
of artificial intelligence have redefined the way products are designed, developed and manufactured. In this
context, the effective integration of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality
Planning) emerges as a crucial strategic approach to driving excellence in product quality. PLM, focused on
comprehensive product lifecycle management, offers a platform that enables information sharing, collaboration
between multidisciplinary teams and process optimization from the conception phase to disposal. At the same
time, APQP, a consolidated methodology, focuses on ensuring product quality, coordinating efforts between
different departments to identify and mitigate risks from the beginning of development. The intersection
between PLM and APQP reveals itself as a critical point of synergy in Industry 4.0. By integrating PLM tools
with APQP principles, organizations can align product lifecycle management with the rigorous demands of
quality in the digital era. This drives more effective collaboration between teams, ensuring the incorporation
of advanced quality practices at each stage of the product lifecycle. In this research, we explore the
interdependent relationship between PLM and APQP in Industry 4.0, investigating how the convergence of
these approaches improves product development and final quality. Through a case study of a multinational
industrial group, we examine how the integration of these two concepts results in tangible benefits, such as
reduced rework, better predictability and greater efficiency in identifying and solving problems. We conclude
that strategic collaboration between PLM and APQP constitutes a fundamental pillar for excellence in product
quality in the Industry 4.0 era, promoting continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
