Culture of peace: from theory to practice
This research has as its main goal the analysis of the culture of peace concept combined with the evaluation of projects focused on this theme and undertaken by Brazil and Spain. Therefore, the purpose is to be able to answer the following question: how did Brazil and Spain contribute to the construction of the international agenda for a culture of peace? The project chose to specifically analyze cases from these two countries since their history in favor of the culture of peace places them in a relevant position in this regard. In order to accomplish such purpose, this thesis implements an essentially qualitative and exploratory research, making use of an extensive bibliographical review supported by primary and secondary sources. Furthermore, it will incorporate a case study analysis to its methodological procedure as part of its strategy to present a deeper examination of the proposed topic. As a central hypothesis, it is argued that the exchange of national experiences is a vital component for the constant improvement of the culture of peace agenda, ensuring that it remains aligned with the needs of its time. The secondary hypothesis argues that civil society plays a fundamental role in driving this agenda forward and, as a consequence, it must occupy a relevant space both in the spheres of discussions and decision-making process.
