Industrial Policy in Brazil between 1990 and 2014: An Analysis of the Machinery and Equipment Sector based on the Economic Complexity Approach
The implementation of industrial policy has been verified through strategies adopted by policy makers in different world economies. However, understanding the consequences of Brazilian industrial policies in recent decades is to understand the behavior of Brazilian industry itself. This work presents an analysis of Brazilian industrial policies under the light of economic complexity, whose premises for economic growth and development are based on product diversification, migrating from less complex activities to those with greater technological content. As a result, check whether there was an increase in the productive and competitive capacity of the industry, especially for sectors with greater sensitivity to the effects of complexity, such as the sector of machinery and electromechanical equipment.
