The X of XAI: An analysis of the concept of explanation for Artificial Intelligence
explainable
This work aims to present, historically and theoretically, artificial intelligence, its main methods and techniques. The order of presentation is as follows: fundamental theoretical aspects, such as Turing machines and the Turing test and Searle's counterposition, with the Chinese room argument. began a history of the main events that contributed to the development of artificial intelligence and its main systems. After this movement, follows an exhibition on machine learning, deep learning and neural networks, based on research and contemporary uses in artificial intelligence. Finally, some of the techniques and concepts used in recent research will be presented, focusing on explainable artificial intelligence. Next, the concept of explanation in the Philosophy of Science is examined, with contributions from the main authors in the area. Finally, we try to analyze how the concept of explanation can contribute to the notion of Explainable Artificial Intelligence.
