Spinoza, imagination and the production of voluntary servitude: the mechanism of the politics of fear and its theological-political foundations
The present work aims to investigate the contribution that Spinoza's theory can offer to deal with a policy that is established from the promotion of the voluntary servitude of a population, by mobilizing the imagination of its members. In order to explain the mechanism by which the politics of fear is expressed and its theological-political bases, we will analyze the first kind of knowledge and the political force of affects. With this movement, we hope to be able to demonstrate the possibility of overcoming this type of policy, by affirming a defense of freedom and democracy in terms of the author.
