METHODOLOGY FOR THE EVALUATION AND VALIDATION OF PRODUCTS CLASSIFIED AS BIOMIMMETIC ONES
Man has been learning from nature for thousands of years, he seeks to understand its strategies to apply in human daily life through the knowledge of 3.8 billion years of natural innovation, in the twentieth century this philosophy turned into science, being called biomimetics. The field of biomimicry seeks to apply a natural method to the solution of a human problem, mimicking natural form and function. Biomimicry is an interdisciplinary research area that navigates in several fields, such as engineering, architecture, design, among many others. Its applications are widely used in the product design process, being a powerful innovation tool. This project aims to develop a methodology for analyzing products with biomimetic characteristics, the proposed methodology is applied in a case study, where the biomimetic active principle SYN®-AKE, used to combat skin aging, is a peptide synthetic developed based on the activity of the natural peptide, Waglerin-1, found in the venom of the viper snake (Tropidolaemus Wagleri). The methodology consists of three stages of product evaluation, which are the analysis of natural form and function, the benefits presented and its relationship with the environment. The case study proved the applicability of the methodology, in addition, this project identified that more research is needed in the area of biomimetics, with the purpose of clarifying the concepts of biomimetics and related areas, creating simple and accessible biomimetic methodologies, in addition to disseminating the science and its power of innovation.
