*Latin America and the Empty Palaces: Post-developmentalism, Ecofascism, Capitalocene*
We are about to collapse. But we haven’t reached to this point only due to a mode of production that generates the development of destructive forces, but also through a model of modern thought that shapes it and creates the possibility of a new mass extinction, - the Capitalocene. For this reason, this paper seeks alternatives to the supposedly neutral words linked to the idea of progress. This way, we will analyze how capitalist modernity developed itself as a geopolitical and worldview that drives to the capitalocene; how Latin America has been subsumed to the Modern World-System, to a World-Ecology, based on coloniality of power and knowledge; how the resistance to modernization ended in developmentalism militancy; also how some paradigms centered on the growth / development imaginary are utterly void of meaning; so, at the end, we can try to sign an exit sketch. As we are facing what can be the collapse not only of capitalism, but of modernity and its way of life, we understand that there is no modern way out of modern problems. That’s why the necessity of alternatives to development against development alternatives. The sketch of this can be created through a critical alliance between anti-productivist Marxism, a subversion of the current imaginary: present in worldviews in Buen Vivir (Good Living), which resists despite they have been the counter-face of modernity, and the contestation to the economic mainstream from the developed world,-based on the idea of degrowth.
