IMMIGRANTS AND THE HOUSING ISSUE: Haitians' experience with housing costs in the city of São Paulo
The following text aims to discuss the issue of housing in São Paulo for Haitians based on their location in the labor market. It appears that, based on data about their average salaries and the countless social differences for being in a country different from their own, Haitian migrants end up having to deal with limitations to their housing options. Thus, through a series of qualitative interviews, in an open model, and quantitative, with the support of a questionnaire, the research follows a group of immigrants living in the Pinheiral Occupation, in the neighborhood of Jardim Ângela, south zone of the city of São Paulo. The research, therefore, uses a small clipping of the situation of migrants with regard to residence and seeks to understand how this issue unfolds through a series of topics on work, access to consumer goods and possibilities for the future in the country.
