PEACE, A NECESSARY ENGAGEMENT FOR LOCAL AND GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT: CHALLENGES IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PEACE AGREEMENT IN COLOMBIA
The Colombian armed conflict between the FARC and the government lasted more than five decades and affected millions people's life, its impacts go beyond borders and reverberate throughout Latin America. The Peace Agreement signed in 2016 covered the reform of structural problems such as rural reform, political participation, victims, illicit drugs and arms delivery. Considering its factors and actors, the effective implementation of the agreement is questioned through public policies that aim to eliminate the causes of the conflict, social inequality, poverty and political collapse, as well as to identify the challenges and impasses in the execution of the negotiated peace. Such inquiries guide the present research and to answer them, the bibliographic analysis of primary sources will be used as methodology through the resolutions of the verification bodies, comparative method and bibliographic survey on peace studies. Preliminarily, it is inferred to overcome a culture of violence in the country, the result of decades of conflict, peace must be adopted as a starting point for transforming structural and social problems through joint cooperation between the State, civil society, International Organizations and NGOs, therefore, the success or setback of Colombian peace implementation will reflect both in regional geopolitics and in international relations. In this way, the post-conflict will be as challenging as the five decades of conflict.
