In order to understand the practice of traditional popular culture, together with its respective dialogue with the public policies developed at the local level, the thesis analyzes the trajectory of the Osasco City Orchestra of Violeiros and its respective performance as a representation of the rustic identity in the region. urban environment. From the concepts of Cultural State (Bauman, 2011) and Cultural Citizenship (Chaui, 1995 and Turino, 2010), it investigates the performance of Osasco City Hall in recognizing the Orchestra as a
symbol of the cultural identity of the municipality and its respective performance for the promotion and realization of events and honors associated with the celebrations of the institution's fiftieth anniversary.
