EVALUATION OF THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF PLASTIC WASTE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SÃO BERNARDO DO CAMPO
The inadequate management of urban solid waste (MSW) has been causing a significant increase in the amounts generated and discarded, mainly plastic solid waste (RSP). The main objective of this work is to analyze potentialities and challenges in the management of plastic waste in the municipality of São Bernardo do Campo (SBC), considering the five dimensions of the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) and the actions of the various publics involved in the waste flow, to offer subsidies to leverage an improvement plan in the municipality. Through a structured questionnaire, document analysis, interviews, and participatory observations, a diagnosis was carried out involving representatives of public authorities, citizens, the production industry and the reverse engineering industry, seeking to identify the scenario and the main improvement points in each of the five dimensions. The main conclusion was that the political dimension is the one that has the most significant number of challenges compared to the potentialities described by the interviewees, and the best-evaluated dimension was the cultural one with the highest number of potentialities.
